RAW (Refined Architectural Works) is the vision of a Seattle furniture designer/builder. When he approached me about designing a promotional catalog for his works, I was a bit stumped but soon thought about some photographs I had recently taken in Paris that might be a good fit.
The RAW furniture design was sleek and handed at the same time with its use of light-weight concrete and wood. It had a very urban coolness to it.
I had just returned from Paris where I spent alot of my time taking pictures of the newly opened National Library of France, the Metro, and de Gaulle airport. Many of the colors, textures, surfaces that I captured seemed to mirror what I saw in the RAW pieces.
I wanted to keep everything stark and clean to match the furniture so I used a hand-drawn font to echo the artisanal aspect of it. I'm not sure if all of the images and pieces completely fit but the ones that do, I'm really happy with. That was the first time I had introduced personal pieces of work into a job for a client.
